Who is welcome?
At St. Michael’s we believe that God’s love is unconditional. No matter where you are in your life, our welcome knows no limitation of age, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, economic condition, or physical or mental ability. We affirm the worth, dignity, and gifts of every person as a beloved child of God.
What should I wear?
Some people dress up and others are very casual (jeans or shorts). Please dress in a way that makes you feel comfortable.
What about the offering?
We collect an offering on Sunday mornings during the service, which helps us fund our ministries and the day-to-day running of the church. The offering is completely voluntary and optional; it is meant to be a response to God’s blessings.
What about children?
Infants and young children are welcome in all our worship services. We provide crayons and books in baskets at the back of the sanctuary. We also have nursery care and Godly Play Sunday School available for children during the 10:15 am service. Please feel free to bring children in and out of the service as you need to.
Can anyone take Communion (the bread and the wine)?
At St. Michael’s, we practice open Communion. All are welcome to participate fully in worship, including Communion, which we also call the Lord’s Supper or Holy Eucharist. There is no one ineligible to receive Communion, no one who has too few beliefs or too many questions. We believe that the altar is the Lord’s Table and it is he who invites you to come.
Who do I ask?
Any other questions you might have at a Sunday morning service may be directed to our ushers and greeters. If you would like more in-depth information about St. Michael’s (beliefs, theology, community), please contact the Rector, Mary Lindquist, at mary@stmichaels-vt.org.
