At St. Michael’s, we view holy icons as vehicles for prayer and worship, either in private contemplation or public liturgy. We have and use icons in our church.
We were blessed to have Zachary Roesemann as a member of our congregation for many years. Zachary has moved on to live in New York and do his work at St. Mary the Virgin Episcopal Church, but Zachary’s presence is still felt through the three icons that reside at St. Michael’s.
Zachary is a professional iconographer whose icons live in churches and homes around the world. As iconographers have done for centuries, he models his icons on ancient originals, those images that the church has over time accepted and revered as “windows on Heaven.”
